The Zakka Kit - June 2018

The June Zakka Kit had a “Summer Days” theme. The wrapping paper as usual looked really interesting.

Of course the first thing I noticed was that there was no card the usually tells me what is in the box so I tried to find everything on their website.
The first thing to come out of the box was the washi tape. It is a Blue Girl washi tape by Classiky and Mihoko Seki. I love the color and the fact that it is not a thin role of tape.

The next two things are the marker and the pencil. The Pen is a Zig Clean Brush Pen by Kuretake Zig. They are usually sold as a set I got the purple colored one. The Uni Colored Pencil from Mitsubishi Pencil usually come in a 36 pencil pack. The color I got was green.

These papers a Tsubame Bird Washi Paper by Classiky and Sekihandou. I have so many ideas running in my head about what to do with them.

This Noble notebook is really cute. I’m going to keep it in my hand bag for notes on the go.

I love the texture of the origami papers (there are 4). They are so colorful and I can’t wait to work on them in my mixed media projects.

Finally, there are cutesy fish stickers, washi Goldfish, there are supposed to be four but I only found two of differing sizes.

This was a cute box from the Zakka Kit people as usual I’m loving all the things in there that fire my imagination.

Two boxes

So today I have two boxes to review. The first is the Planner Society box and the second is a new subscription that I am trying out. Of course, as with any subscription box that I get, Kuwaiti customs must take a looksee. So let us start with the Planner Society.

So this is a subscription that is all about crafting for your planner and as with every box they sent so far the designs used are very inspiring...but mostly I use their supplies for my mixed media compositions rather than my planner.

As you can see from the pictures shown there are a couple of washi tapes, some puffy stickers and some normal ones, some beautiful cardstock paper, some die cuts, dividers, journaling cards, planner paperclips, a small memo pad and a pen. All of the stuff in the box is going into my stash box which is running low on a lot of things.

Now I'm going to talk about the Pocket Notbooks box. It has a theme of "Probably..." and a donation of 1 pound is made to the Literacy Trust for every box sold. The box itself is pretty simple. It has two packs of three small notebooks. The first pack is called Playtype Backpocket Notebook. The notebooks are 90 x 130 mm and have 48 pages each. They come from Copenhagen.

The second pack of notebooks are the same size but they come from the USA and are called Public Supply and they also have 48 pages each but the pages are ruled.

There were also some extra goodies in the box. Two dog shaped paperclips one small magnet and a sticker.

I'm going to enjoy putting these small notebooks to work!

Planner Society

I'm slowly getting into all the interesting things the Planner Society sends me each month. I don't always use them for my planners and that is what makes them awesome.

As usual the box had an asortment of items like stamps, stickers, die cuts, glitter or sequens and of course crafting cardstock paper. So let's get into the box.

The first item to come out of the box is a pack of journaling cards. I've never used them as such but I have cut them up and used the pictures or quotes on them.

Next up are two cute items that I see myself giving to my little cousins. A little pouch which could be used for a multitude of things like storing pens or make up. Also four hair pins.

I always love the stamps, die cuts, memo pads dividers and stamps. I think there are two themes happening here, pineapples and flowers.

Finally, the craft papers. Each box comes with an assortment and this one is no different. I always love getting them.

Planner Society Box

This is a box that I've gotten twice before and have a love/hate relationship with. I like a few things that come in the box but have no use for others. The things that I like in the box keep me coming back.
This is basically a subscription for people who use planners. It is a monthly kit for putting together your planner inserts for the month. It is crafty and it has a lot of interesting pieces and a lot of useless ones. Let me start this with a caveat. I don't use all of these supplies in the way they are intended. My planner is pretty much not your typical affair. It is very minimalist with almost no stickers or inserts. It is basically a diary/reminder with dotted/plain A5 pages and that is pretty much it. What I do use from the box are the crafty supplies for my other journal, which is an art journal, and my mixed media art. I won't open all the supplies but I will tell you about them. So let us get into the box itself.

So as usual, the customs officials got into my package. This time they didn't do much damage. 👀

I love washi tape, and this box contained two. One of which goes with the theme of the box, which will be obvious soon.

The packet on the left is a memo pad, it isn't very practical but it could be used to mark places or to write VERY short notes. The package on the right is, of course, a stamp...can you guess the theme? I love to use the stamps in my mixed media pieces. I might stamp with archival ink and then use watercolours or markers to colour it.

These are, of course, stickers and section/page flags. Each of the boxes I have gotten before included something like that. These I might use in my planner, but more often then not they end up in a mixed media pieces or in my art journal, which is pretty eclectic.

This is something I've not seen before in their boxes (at least in the ones I've gotten so far). These are pockets. They are small and I'm not sure how useful they will be but I might use them in a different way to what they were intended for.

A pen, and a journal charm. I can always use a pen and the journal charm...you guessed it, other uses. 😛

A paper clip, craft paper and ephemera, these are a few of my favourite things... yes I use these seriously in my art journal and mixed media pieces so I always love getting them.
I have to admit, I liked this box more than last month's box. There were a lot more things in this that I could use and repurpose.
