Robert Mason Mystery Box

          Seven reviews back, I talked about how my Robert Mason subscription ended because the store was closing. It still is but Robert Mason offered a one time Mystery Box for anyone who wanted one final hurrah so of course, I could not pass it up. Each box is different so no two boxes are the same. I was excited to see what I would get. 

          The first thing I saw was tonnes of pens so let me list them below and try to find their cost for you. All in all, there are eleven pens and two pencils. 

 

1. Pentel R.S.V.P medium purple. Cost: box of 12 on Amazon costs 6.80 dollars

2. Pentel HyperG 0.5mm red. Cost: 6.86 dollars

3. Pentel R.S.V.P. RT blue. Cost: pack of 2 costs 7.05 dollars

A Roaring Spring Wide Landscape pad 11" x 9.5", 40 sheets, premium recycled paper. Costs 2.99 dollars. 

 

I'll always need Post-it notes for my reading and research. Cost: 8.63 dollars.

 

         These two products go together: Moleskine address book and Moleskine Click Ballpen. Notebook costs: 18.83 dollars and pen costs 37.13 dollars. 

          I paid 50 dollars for the box and the Moleskine address book and pen are worth a little bit over that. Everything else in the box is extra. Add to that that everything in the box is quality and you know you got yourself a great deal! Another thing that you should keep in mind is that some of the proceeds from the box go to the Trevor Project, which is a good cause.

Robert Loves Box (Final)

          I haz a sad. 😢 After almost 25 years in the business, Robert Mason Co. is closing... they just could not recover from a fire that happened in 2014. I wish I had discovered them a while back. As it is, their site is selling out pretty fast and they have 30% off of things so go get your unique products from them. I wish they would have continued their subscription box at least, people would so subscribe to them because they have quality products at good prices.

          Anyroad, this is the last box from the Robert Loves subscription and it is amazing as usual. The theme of the box is Bullet Journaling which I am a big fan of and do religiously.

          Robert Loves is featuring one of the bullet journalers that I follow and she has some good tips for you so if you don't follow her you need to check her out at Tiny Ray Of Sunshine. Also if you are new to bullet journaling go to the source of it all Ryder Carroll's website Bullet Journal. So without any further delay let us get into the box.

          This box has 8 amazing products chosen with care by the Robert Mason team and they are items that most bullet journalers would use but heck, anyone can use them. I'm going to use the information page they sent to talk about the items.

1. Sharpie 24K Colour Burst Limited Edition (Ultra fine point) and these are a set that I have been eyeing for a while now. They are a thing of beauty. I can't wait to try them out in my journal.

2. Blackwing Volume 205 - The Jade Pencil Limited edition. This product is already sold out in their stores, this is how awesome these pencils are and how much they are wanted. 

3. To go along with the Blackwing pencils, Robert Loves Team also sent out the Blackwing Long Point Sharpener. This is a two-step sharpener, where you first sharpen the wood and then precision sharpen the graphite core to a long, fine point. It also comes with two replacement blades and a brake to stop the pencil from sharpening too much. It also lets you only sharpen the graphite core so that your pencils last for a long time. 

4 and 5. The next two items I'm combining together because they are similar to each other. One is a Post-It set of 5 multicolour page markers and one is a super sticker 3x3 notes multicoloured pack. I can always use more post-its, they work for everything.

6. C-Line Slide-Open Tray Pencil Case with snap closure. I love pencil cases and this one is pretty! They also have leather ones that are similar to this one in their online store.

7 and 8. I left the last two items to the end because while all the other items were amazing these two are considered the holy grail in most Bullet Journaling communities. I've never used one and have been thinking of getting one...but something always stopped me. Now I have one!

LEUCHTTURM1917 and a matching pen loop. Yes, they included a Leuchtturm1917. The colour is purple because Robert Mason supports causes like Anti-Bullying and this box is dedicated to The Trevor Project. The proceeds from this box will go to that organisation.           I'm really sad to see this box subscription go. I'm really sad to see a quality business with good products and great prices go, such is life. Robert Mason, thank you for giving me happiness for the past two months. If you ever decide to just curate boxes with the Robert Mason products I will be the first to resubscribe. 

Robert Mason March Box 2017 Review

          The poor Robert Loves box arrived a little banged up but non-the-worse for wear. Aramex can be tough on the poor boxes and Kuwait customs are no better.

          I opened up the box and the first thing I saw was the beautiful tissue paper. The second thing I saw was the box theme, which is "Craftsmanship - Reclaimed".

According to the paper that came with the box, there were 14 items in the box.

       The first items that caught my eye were the ruler and pencil. They are handcrafted from reclaimed wood. They have a rustic vintage feeling to them and the craftsmanship is really refined.

          I've never seen a landscape pad here in Kuwait...well I've seen on now ☺. It is made from recycled paper, and I think it is hella cute. 

          The box also contained two Field Notes memo books. They have 48 pages each, with one being a ledger (ruled) and the other had graph paper. I'm a mechanical engineer and these two memo books will come in handy. 

          I think my husband is going to love the slide wristband. He loves handcrafted items and this one is made from cowhide which is something he's not worn before.

  

          Next is an assorted selection of cards and accompanying envelopes. The smaller ones are really colourful and cute. They were clipped together with a binder clip. The bigger ones have a satin look and feel and feel more formal than the smaller ones. They are really pretty.

          The curators of the box also included some crumbles, which are bits of wax left over from making candles. The add Pillars to the wax so it can be used in electric warmers. We don't have those in Kuwait BUT I'm sure I'll find a new purpose for them...probably in my compositions. 

          Last but not least, pens and pencils. The box included a great selection: 2 mechanical pencils and four pens.

Orange: Paper Mate clear point mechanical pencil 0.7mm. What I love about this pencil is that the lead inside it is actually orange and not black.

Red: Pentel Sign Pen, touch, read ink.

Blue Cap: Sakura Gelly Roll 06

Black: Pentel Slicci 0.25mm ball, black

Blue: Pentel Twist-Erase GT 0.7mm, mechanical pencil. This one had an interesting system where the eraser comes out and can be twisted back inside the cap.

Yellow: Paper Mate Flair, medium, yellow. I'm glad I got that. I had heard so much about them and was thinking of getting some to try out. Now I can try it out and see if I like it.

          Overall, the box was a great introduction to this subscription. I can see myself using every single item and I'm totally looking forward to what Robert Mason has in store for us next.
